Abhi Mukherjee specialises in healthcare law and personal injury. He acts for both Plaintiffs and Defendants. He has considerable expertise in medical negligence, coronial inquests and disciplinary proceedings against healthcare professionals. He has also experience in dust disease litigation and public liability cases.
Medical Negligence
Abhi has experience of the full range of medical negligence cases including obstetrics, emergency medicine, cosmetic surgery and general practitioners. He appeared as junior counsel for the successful Plaintiffs in Boxell v Peninsula Health [2019] VSC 830.
Coronial Inquests
Abhi mainly represents families of Deceased persons and healthcare professionals at inquests. He has dealt with a wide variety of cases and in 2022 acted for a health professional in the inquest into the passing of Veronica Nelson.
Disciplinary Hearings
Abhi has represented numerous healthcare professionals at AHPRA hearings and before VCAT. His clients have ranged from individuals employed in general practice, psychology, ultrasonography and other fields.
Public Liability
Abhi has acted in the full range of public liability cases for both Plaintiffs and Defendants.
Dust Disease
Abhi has acted in dust diseases cases where liability and quantum have been in issue. He has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants.
Mediator
Abhi has experience of acting as a mediator and welcomes the opportunity to act as a mediator in appropriate cases.
Seminars
Abhi regularly speaks at seminars on medico-legal topics. He has covered topics as wide-ranging as rising trends in medical negligence litigation and on Section 59 of the Wrongs Act. He appeared as a Panel member in a discussion before the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
Background
Abhi joined the Victorian Bar in 2013. Prior to that he practised as a barrister in London, UK from Outer Temple Chambers.
