Raymond has years of advocacy experience having appeared extensively in a range of jurisdictions. Raymond has routinely appeared in contested hearings in the Victorian Magistrates’Court and Children’s Court jurisdictions concerning criminal, child protection and intervention order matters. He has experience appearing and advising on judicial and merits review. He welcomes briefs to appear and advise in criminal, public and administrative law, commercial and matters relating to children and young people.
Raymond was previously employed as a public servant in a senior lawyer role with the Victorian Police. Raymond spent 3 years with the Victoria police, where he prosecuted in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria with the Specialist Sex Offences Prosecution Unit. He also has experience in specialist therapeutic jurisdiction of the Drug Court and with intervention orders. Raymond has experience dealing with Firearms Legislation and has experience in matters acting for the state in applications involving prohibited persons. Raymond will accept briefs for both the prosecution and defence.
Raymond has a background in administrative and migration law. Before moving to Victoria, Raymond spent 6 years with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (now Department of Home Affairs). Amongst other things, he served as a member of the Legal Opinions Team where he spent several years advising the Department on a range of matters including errors in administrative decisions and policy matters. He welcomes briefs to advise and appear in merits and judicial review matters.
