Charles accepts commercial law briefs, primarily in industrial relations and taxation. He also advises State and Federal Members of Parliament.
Prior to joining the Bar, Charles worked for the Commonwealth Government in Canberra and Perth, supervised by the Attorney-General.
Charles holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia, and a Master of Laws from the Australian National University.
Charles read with Lisa Hespe SC (now Justice Hespe of the Federal Court of Australia). His senior mentor is Eugene Wheelahan QC.

- the Plaintiff liquidator in Standard Solar (in Liq) in the Federal Court, securing the arrest of a former director of the liquidated entity;
- the Plaintiff in Victoria International Container Terminal v CFMMEU in a long-running claim, relating to the industrial blockade of Webb Dock (Led by Stuart Wood AM QC);
- Parties in various underpayment matters in the Federal Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, State courts, and the South Australian Employment Tribunal;
- the Shadow Treasurer in Davis v Department of Transport, relating to disclosures around Melbourne’s Fishermans Bend project and the redevelopment of South Yarra Railway Station;
- Plaintiffs and Defendants in various restraint of trade matters across several jurisdictions;
- a law firm partnership, defending an unfair dismissal claim from a former partner (Led by S Wood AM QC);
- a third party in Bastiaan v Nine Media & Ors, in relation to subpoena compliance;
- the Plaintiff in Brar v Aulakh, a partnership dispute relating to the purchase of a factory in Punjab province, India;
- the Plaintiff in an adverse possession claim in regional Victoria;
- a nationwide waste company transitioning to an enterprise bargaining agreement;
- a security firm against Victoria Police, dismissing a disciplinary inquiry relating to the 2019 Love Machine nightclub shooting;
- a Middle Eastern state-affiliated law firm, on comparative industrial relations law in the Australian jurisdiction; and
- parties to various commercial disputes in courts across Australia.
