Amy practices primarily in commercial law, with expertise in real property; building and construction; class actions; maritime law; white collar crime and commercial fraud; banking and finance; and insurance and professional negligence. Amy also has expertise in sports law and appears regularly as counsel on behalf of athletes of various sporting codes before disciplinary and appeals tribunals.
Some examples of Amy’s recent experience include:
- real property: appearing in disputes regarding the sale of land, leasing, adverse possession claims, trespass, easements and equitable interests in land (including caveat disputes);
- building and construction: matters involving technology, engineering and construction that involve areas of law such as contract, professional negligence and the security of payment;
- commercial fraud: providing representation to companies adversely affected by fraud, misconduct and financial crime; and
- banking and finance: appearing in matters including both enforcing and setting-aside different types of personal and corporate loan agreements, mortgages, guarantees and other related securities.
Amy accepts appointments as counsel or tribunal secretary in relation to disputes across Australia and internationally. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has successfully completed a Diploma in International Maritime Arbitration with CIArb. Amy has also successfully undertaken the HKIAC Tribunal Secretary Training Programme.
Before being called to the Bar in 2018, Amy was the Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Croft in the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she assisted his Honour with matters including challenges to the enforcement of arbitral awards, taxation matters and commercial disputes. Prior to her time at the Court, Amy was a solicitor in regional Victoria and had carriage of commercial litigation matters as well as family law disputes and testators family maintenance claims.
