Israel Cowen practises in commercial and public law.
Israel has advised and appeared in a range of commercial matters including in the areas of competition and consumer law, corporations law, professional negligence, equity and trade marks law. In 2017, Israel was listed by Doyle's Guide as an Emerging Intellectual Property & TMT Junior Counsel.
Israel has also advised government on numerous constitutional and administrative law issues, and has acted for regulators and in Royal Commissions, including as counsel assisting in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.
Before coming to the Bar, Israel was an Associate to the Hon Justice Middleton and an Associate to the Hon Justice Moshinsky at the Federal Court of Australia. Earlier, Israel worked as a solicitor at Allens on intellectual property, corporate insolvency and tax litigation matters.
Prior to his legal career, Israel worked as an Analyst at Goldman Sachs JBWere. He also has experience in the advertising and public relations industries. Whilst undertaking his Juris Doctor, Israel was an editor of the Monash University Law Review.
