I am a commercial barrister specialised in resolving complex disputes through litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution (including mediation), particularly in the banking and finance, real estate, securities and business sectors.
Since coming to the Bar in 2013, I have acted for clients including ASX listed companies, banks, universities, private companies and individuals. I am often briefed to provide strategic advice and appear in cases involving:
- Contract disputes, interpretation and enforcement.
- Debt/loan recovery, including mortgage and security enforcement.
- Corporations, and director/shareholder disputes (including trusts).
- Trade practices, and misleading or deceptive conduct disputes.
- Property and leasing (including owners corporation and caveat disputes).
- Corporate insolvency and personal bankruptcy.
- Regulatory matters and investigations (including by ASIC).
- Employment disputes (including misuse of confidential information and restraints of trade).
- Building and construction disputes.
- Professional negligence.
- Wills and estates disputes.
A selection of recent cases I have been briefed in can be found here.
I strive to understand my client’s business and individual circumstances, in the context of the legal and commercial issues facing my client, and to provide clear, strategic, timely and practical advice about a current or prospective dispute for its efficient resolution.
I seek to draw upon my experience as a barrister, solicitor, judge’s associate and secondee in-house counsel (ANZ Bank) for this purpose, and to navigate through the litigation and dispute resolution process. I enjoy working with instructing solicitors and in-house counsel (including by way of direct briefing).
I am a co-author of Australian Commercial Arbitration (LexisNexis), a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the executive committee of the Commercial Bar Association of Victoria, and a member of the integrity division of the Victorian Amateur Football Association.
