Matthew has a national practice that covers all aspects of employment, industrial, and occupational health and safety law. It also includes public law and criminal law.
Matthew acts for clients across a broad range of industries, including building and construction, mining, aviation, financial services, health, education, transport, retail, manufacturing, power generation and stevedoring. He also acts for various State and Federal government agencies.
Matthew was recognised in Doyles Guide's Leading Employment Law Junior Counsel - Victoria 2020 and Leading Workplace Health & Safety Law Junior Counsel – Victoria 2020. Matthew was also recognised in Doyles Guide's Leading Workplace Health & Safety Law Junior Counsel and Leading Employment Law Junior Counsel in 2019, and as Emerging Employment & WHS Junior Counsel in 2017.
Matthew is a Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister, and an accredited specialist criminal law advocate under the Victorian Bar's Indictable Crime Certificate program. Matthew appears for both the prosecution and defence in a variety of criminal matters including jury trials, appeals and pleas. Matthew has also represented individuals in inquisitorial and coercive proceedings.
