Prior to joining the bar, Andrew was a Senior Legal Consultant for DLA Piper - Dubai, a solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons (then Mallesons Stephen Jaques) and Clayton Utz, and in-house counsel for mining company, Mitsubishi Development.
During his time as a solicitor, Andrew worked on large scale infrastructure projects, in both transactional and litigious capacities.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Sino Iron Pty Ltd v Secretary of the Department of Infrastructure and Transport [2014] FCA 28 (Federal Court – Sydney) (led by James W S Peters QC).
Commonwealth of Australia v Cappalleri [2013] VCC 1266 (County Court) – successfully argued that that the Commonwealth could recover overpayment of Centrelink benefits paid over the course of 20 years, despite statutory limitations provisions.
Madgwick v Kelly [2013] FCAFC 61 (Federal Court – Melbourne) – successfully established an entitlement to security for costs in a class action context, by reference to the characteristics of the class themselves, rather than just the plaintiff (led by Bernard F Quinn QC).
Select recent arbitration experience:
Appointed as sole arbitrator by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre in a dispute between an Indonesian party and a Vietnamese party relating to supply of goods. The seat of the arbitration being Singapore.
Appointed as tribunal secretary in a dispute administered by the Japanese Commerical Arbitration Association involving a contractual dispute. The seat of the arbitration being Japan.
Appointed as tribunal secretary in a dispute administered by the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (USA) relating to contractual and intellectual property rights. The seat of the arbitration being California, USA.
Andrew was also formerly the legal assistant to Neil Kaplan CBE QC SBS, international arbitrator.
