Helen has a broad commercial and public law practice. Helen has particular experience in contractual disputes, insurance and professional negligence, class actions and trade practices matters. Helen has appeared in both international and domestic commercial arbitrations, particularly in the construction and resources sectors.
Helen also has experience in Royal Commissions and Inquiries, most recently appearing on behalf of the Victorian State Government in the Yoorrook Justice Commission, the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, and the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence. Helen also appeared on behalf of the Department of Justice and Community Safety in the Board of Inquiry into the Covid-19 Hotel Quarantine Program.
Immediately prior to joining the Bar, Helen was an associate to the Honourable Justice Jessup in the Federal Court of Australia. Helen has experience in private practice as a solicitor in Australia (at Minter Ellison) and London (at Clyde & Co LLP), and as an in-house solicitor at ITV plc (the United Kingdom’s largest commercial television network).
