Teresa practices predominantly in the Family Division of the Children's Court, appearing at mentions, directions hearings, conciliation conferences, contested hearings and readiness hearings. Teresa also prosecutes applications for the return of children pursuant to the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction.
Teresa has been involved in legislative review. In 2015 she worked with Eamonn Moran QC in considering the legal changes required to permit adoption of children by same-sex couples under Victorian law.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Teresa was an Associate at the Supreme Court to the Honourable Justice John Coldrey where she assisted His Honour in the Criminal Division.
From 2007 Teresa was employed as a solicitor for the Department of Human Services. Her work included appearances in relation to coronial inquests; applications for the return of children under the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction; reviews relating to the supervision of offenders under the Crimes(Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act; and the review of decisions made pursuant to the Disability Act and Adoption Act.
In 2012 Teresa appeared for indigenous defendants while working for the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency, with a focus on representing young offenders. In addition to appearing in contested hearings, bail applications and pleas in the Courts of Summary Jurisdiction at Darwin and regional locations, Teresa also appeared in the Supreme Court on pleas and breach of sentence proceedings.
Teresa is currently President of the Children's Court Bar Association.
