Douglas has established a practice in the areas of personal injury litigation including appearing in and advising in relation to the following:
- Magistrates Court statutory benefits claims;
- Serious Injury applications in both WorkCover and TAC matters; and
- Common law / negligence trials.
This includes experience at all stages, including advice work, pleadings, interlocutory applications and trial work.
In addition, Douglas continues to advise and appear in relation to General civil / commercial proceedings. During his time at the bar Douglas has taught at the Leo Cussen Institute (Corporations Law, Commercial Leasing and Trusts), and regularly reported cases for the Victorian Reports since 2009.
Prior to coming to the bar, Douglas was employed at the Metropolitan Ambulance Service Royal Commission and then commenced work as a solicitor in private practice, which he did for approximately 5 years, practicing predominantly in the areas of general commercial litigation and debt recovery, but also gaining experience in wills, probate, property law and other areas.
