Dan has been at the Victorian Bar for twenty five years. His practise is in:
cases in the Federal Court and the Supreme Court particularly in administrative law, class actions, commercial/corporations litigation and other regulatory matters;
enforcement / civil penalty matters under the Corporations Act 2001, the Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2010 and other Commonwealth and State Acts; and
acting for and against a range of Commonwealth and State Ministers, departments and agencies/regulators in investigations and litigation. His experience and expertise includes civil matters involving the ASIC, ACCC and the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police.
Dan also has experience in royal commissions and inquiries including the Yoorrook Justice Commission (2023), the COVID-19 Hotel Quarantine Inquiry (2020) and the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System (2019/2020).
Dan is the Chair of the Victorian Bar's Human Rights Committee.
Before coming to the Bar in 1998, Dan was an associate to the former Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia, the Hon Michael Black AC KC.
Dan holds a first class honours degree in law from the University of Melbourne.
