John has an extensive commercial practice. He is a Senior Fellow of Melbourne Law School, where he lectures in liability insurance law for the masters program.
John has acted in multiple class actions and other major litigation following high-profile corporate collapses, including those of the Westpoint, Great Southern and Timbercorp Groups. His practice areas include professional liability, insurance, contractual disputes, corporations law, equity and trusts, building and construction, property, torts and personal injuries, trade practices, insolvency, banking and finance, and disciplinary hearings.
Previously, John was a solicitor at Freehills and a special counsel at Norton Rose Australia. He is experienced in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, and is firmly committed to obtaining timely and cost-effective outcomes for clients.
John is ranked by Doyle’s Guide among leading Victorian counsel in the areas of professional indemnity and professional negligence. He was the inaugural author of The Taxation of Partnerships (The Laws of Australia), and has published articles on many aspects of commercial law including directors’ duties, trade practices and professional liability.
