Christine (Chris) obtained her
Bachelor of Social Studies from Sydney University in 1978 and thereafter spent
10 years in the medical/social work fields. This period provided Chris with
invaluable experience in general/medical social work including intensive care,
organ donation, child and adolescent health, paliative and aged care and
psychiatry. During this time Chris commenced her Law
studies and was admitted to practice in 1990. She was initially employed in a
general suburban practice before becoming Associate to a County Court Judge in
1992. She came to the Bar in 1995. Chris has a general practice including
summary crime, civil and family law, Childrens' Court (both Criminal and Family
Divisions), and administrative law. She also has experience in common law and
County Court Chambers. Given her background Chris has a profound
understanding of the problems associated with families in crisis in the areas of
family breakup, childrens protection issues, guardianship and administration,
and criminal law in particular young offenders. Her experience and observations
after 10 years working in large medical centres has kindled an interest in
medical negligence. It has provided Chris with a sensitivity and understanding
of personal injury and trauma related problems and the operations of large
hospitals in the provision of medical services.
