Counsel has an extensive paperwork and advice practice and appears regularly in the Federal and Supreme Courts. Counsel practices principally in Corporations and Insolvency/Bankruptcy law. Before being called to the Bar, Counsel was an Assistant Commissioner for Corporate Affairs for Victoria and was the Assistant Manager of the Corporate Operations Division of the Victorian Corporate Affairs Office. This division had the responsibility for the supervision and regulation of company takeovers and Corporate Finance matters, including the raising of capital and investment funds by the way of prospectus. Counsel was also the Victorian Representative on the National Takeover and Mergers Committee. For several years he was a part-time instructor in Company and Commercial Law at Leo Cussen Institute and a member of the Victorian Bar's Company Law Committee. He also assisted the Chief's Justice's Supreme Court Rules Committee with drawing the Supreme Court (Corporations) Rules 1992. Counsel was admitted to practice in 1976 and was called to the Bar in 1985 after reading with Gordon Ritter, now one of Her Majesty's Counsel.
