Dane is an experienced advocate, having appeared in most Courts and Tribunals. He has advised solicitors and corporate clients on a wide range of matters across the commercial law spectrum.
He was an articled clerk and solicitor in commercial litigation at Clayton Utz, a leading national law firm, as well as being the principal and legal director of his own incorporated legal practice.
He was for many years a member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Courts Committee (of which he was Chair) and its Litigation Executive. He is a member of the Federal Court’s Insolvency (Bankruptcy and Insolvency) User Group and was a member of the Chief Justice of Victoria's Supreme Court Rules Committee for 4 years.
Dane has taught Civil Procedure at RMIT University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He also has extensive business experience. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Dane worked in various roles with two Australian banks and in senior management for some of the world’s largest hospitality and tourism operators. Accordingly, he understands the commercial imperatives and drivers of a business.
