Sepideh comes to the bar with a broad skill set developed as a commercial analyst and through her experience in criminal law, common law and public and administrative law.
Prior to coming to the Victorian Bar, Sepideh was accepted into the Graduate Program as an Analyst at Macquarie Bank where she remained for 5 years, her experience spanned company acquisition and takeovers; lending assessment; credit analysis; financial and general commercial advisory and has extensive knowledge in the assessment of financial risk.
Sepideh was also an Associate in the County Court of Victoria for 18 months where she gained exposure to many criminal and personal injury matters. She also worked as a paralegal to Her Honour Magistrate Burnside (then Prosecutor) for a year, assisting her in County Court criminal trials.
Sepideh was a Researcher for the Centre for Innovative Justice, her research paper identified the psychological causes and sentencing trends for recidivism of sexual and violent offenders and made recommendations to VACRO for custodial impositions and rehabilitation for those offenders.
Sepideh’s notable achievements as a solicitor for West Justice included:
- Successfully preparing and appearing as solicitor advocate in successive Review and Regulation List hearings at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal against the Taxi Services Commission.
- Representing marginalised members of the community being sued by Insurers and Taxi Clubs under subrogation rights, creating a body of casework ultimately leading to responsive law reform.
- Submitting a paper to Treasury addressing the proposed law reform of extending unfair contract terms to small business and making submissions on reasons it ought to apply to members of the Victorian Taxi Industry. Her submission was accepted and published.
- Preparing a submission for the Victorian Ombudsman regarding the tender process of the sale and subsequent price fixing of Victorian Taxi Licences. This submission was compiled using statistics gathered from her casework in the Centre and opened an information exchange with the Commission with the Ombudsman’s response to her complaint creating greater industry transparency and awareness for the protection of her client’s rights and obligations.
Sepideh is fluent in Farsi and French.
