Emile practises across family law, commercial law and criminal law. Within this diverse practice, Emile focuses on matters that draw upon his experience, education and key interests.
Emile has strong quantitative skills and a deep understanding of complex commercial, accounting and financial issues. His experience in these areas result in him specialising in disputes involving complex quantitative issues and the analysis of expert reports.
Emile also focuses on alternative dispute resolution. He has a strong interest in resolving conflicts out of court and takes an analytical and strategic approach to negotiation and mediation.

Family Law:
Emile’s family law practice focuses on:
· Complex property disputes;
· Matters involving consideration of expert reports; and
· Intervention order matters adjacent to both family law and criminal law.
Emile regularly appears in the FCFCOA in property and parenting matters.
Recent examples of Emile’s family law matters include:
· Property dispute relating to disputed business valuation;
· Interim defended hearing in a complex parenting matter; and
· Mediation of a complex multi-party property dispute.
Commercial Law:
Emile accepts a wide range of commercial briefs for advice and advocacy matters.
Emile has a background in commercial law. Prior to coming to the Bar, Emile was a lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright where he gained experience in commercial matters, primarily in the areas of insolvency and insurance. During his time at NRF, Emile was involved in a range of disputes including contractual, building and disputes related to the Australian Consumer Law.
Emile has a particular interest in:
· Employment and Industrial disputes;
· Insurance;
· Insolvency; and
· Contract disputes.
Recent examples of Emile’s commercial law matters include:
· Underpayment claim in the FCFCOA;
· Insurance claim involving complex forensic accounting issues;
· Mediation in relation to an application to set aside a statutory demand;
· Contract dispute regarding enforceability of a loan agreement; and
· Dispute between a developer and architect regarding scope of works.
Criminal Law:
Emile’s criminal law practice focuses on:
· Fraud / white collar crime offences;
· Matters involving complex evidentiary issues; and
· Matters under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997.
Emile regularly appears in the County Court and Magistrates’ Court in criminal and quasi-criminal matters.
Recent examples of Emile’s Criminal Law matters include:
· Appearing as junior counsel in a fraud trial;
· Appearing in a consent mental impairment matter;
· Appearing in a fitness investigation;
· Appearing in a criminal contest dealing with family violence;
· Appearing in a contested committal involving injury charges;
· Appearing in an ASIC prosecution; and
· Prosecuting matters for the Department of Transport and Planning.
Prior to being admitted to the Bar, Emile was for two years an Associate to the Honourable Justice Hollingworth, Principal Judge of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
