Michael Keks practises in criminal law and related areas, including regulatory and enforcement matters and in commissions of inquiry.
Michael appears in all jurisdictions in Victoria and elsewhere in Australia. His practice includes complex and sensitive matters such as terrorism, fraud, corruption and human exploitation, along with corporate and commercial crime. He also provides advice to and represents law enforcement agencies.
Before coming to the Bar, Michael was a senior federal prosecutor at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. He was an associate to Justice Redlich at the Victorian Court of Appeal, and began his legal career as a solicitor at Allens. Michael completed a Master of Law at the University of Cambridge in 2016 with a first-class grade. He holds degrees with honours in Law and Arts from the University of Melbourne.
Michael read with Shaun Ginsbourg. His senior mentor was Richard Maidment QC.
