Emily is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law and has extensive experience managing both common law and statutory benefits claims in the TAC and Workers' Compensation jurisdictions.
Before signing the Bar Roll, Emily worked as a solicitor for over a decade, specialising in the area of personal injuries. She has practiced in the Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Emily was admitted to practice in February 2005, having completed her Articles at Kenyons Lawyers. As a solicitor, Emily obtained compensation for hundreds of injured plaintiffs via negotiation (TAC protocols conferences, WorkCover statutory conferences and mediations) as well as litigation. Most recently, Emily was Regional Office Leader of the Maurice Blackburn Dandenong office, where she managed a large portfolio of litigated TAC and WorkCover files.
Between 2011 and 2015, Emily was State President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance. Emily served for several years on the TAC Legal Liaison Group and the TAC Protocols Forum. Emily is author of the Lexis Nexis Practical Guidance - Personal Injury module (Transport Accidents). Since 2011, Emily has been a member of the LIV Personal Injury Advisory Law committee.
Emily has presented papers for the LIV, ALA and Legalwise on various issues in personal injury law. She has been published in the Law Institute Journal on contributory negligence in the workplace (May 2011 85(5) LIJ, 48) and in the ALA Precedent Magazine on the TAC Protocols (2013 114 Precedent 19).
