Amit has significant experience as a trial advocate, encompassing all aspects of criminal law. He has also appeared as an appellate advocate in the Court of Appeal in New Zealand and Victoria.
Amit began his career as a solicitor with the Western Aboriginal Legal Service based in Dubbo, NSW (2001-2002) and has previously worked as a Barrister (2007-2012) and Public Defender (2012-2014) in New Zealand before joining Victoria Legal Aid as an in-house advocate in 2014.
He holds positions on the judicial disciplinary panel for Rugby Victoria and Rugby Australia and appears for clients before sports tribunals. Amit is on the Legal Assistance Panel of the National Sports Tribunal.
Amit also accepts briefs in in quasi-criminal areas, including coronial inquests, investigations and Royal Commissions.
Amit has lectured in Evidence Law as part of RMIT University's Juris Doctor Program and is on Victoria Legal Aid's Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List. He holds an Indictable Crime Certificate.
