Julian is a member of the NSW and Victorian Bars.
Before coming to the Bar, Julian acted as in-house counsel for major listed media companies in Australia and in the United Kingdom and held senior commercial roles with European mobile telecoms sector.
Since coming to the Bar (NSW in 2013), Julian has a developed a broad, general practice. Julian has been retained in proceedings, including disputes regarding equitable obligations (trusts, fiduciary obligations and breaches of confidence), contractual disputes, administrative law matters (merits and judicial review), defamation and IP rights infringement (trade mark and copyright).
Julian has developed an advice practice on issues relating to the mishandling of personal information, which includes insurers, government agencies, and those considering claims on behalf of affected classes of consumers.
Julian appears regularly in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court and before general and specialist tribunals (IP Australia).
Julian holds the degrees Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Laws with Distinction from King’s College, University of London, specialising in Intellectual Property Law.
