I came to the bar from an investigation background, involving criminal matters including serial sex offences. This led to a career in areas including intelligence analysis, investigation and analysis of criminal networks engaged in activities ranging from fraud, drug trafficking, money laundering and what can loosely be described as organised crime and corrupt practices.
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to design and assist in the implementation of intelligence and investigative data bases. I have also been involved in the preparation of complex personal injury/fraud cases prior to coming to the law.
This experience, if nothing else, taught me importance of analysis and detail in relation to evidence and the law. Additionally I am able to listen to what it is that a client is actually saying. Courtesy and Respect to and of the individual are critical, as is the ability to convey information in a way that is clearly understood to enable a client to make informed decisions.
My skills as an analyst have been of great assistance in examining evidence in cases ranging from criminal matters to complex child abuse cases involving physical and sexual abuse, predatory activities and deaths. An analytical approach is vital whether it be in matters before the Family Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court or the Supreme Court.
I have appeared in matters before the Coroners Court; Magistrates' Court; the County Court; Supreme Court and Court of Appeal; the Family Court and various Tribunals including VCAT.
