Obituary & Service - The Honourable William Ormiston AO

It is with deep regret that the Bar Council informs members of the death yesterday, Saturday 13 December, of The Honourable William Frederick Ormiston AO. He was 79 (born, 6 October 1935).

The Chairman and members of the Victorian Bar extend the deepest sympathy to the family of the Honourable William Ormiston. He served the Law with distinction for 47 years as a solicitor, barrister and Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria - on the Trial Division; a foundation Judge of Appeal; and sometime Acting President and Acting Chief Justice. His judgments earned respect beyond Victoria - in the High Court, in the high courts of other States and overseas, and in the academic literature. He remained a member of the Bar for a total of 53 years.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday 19 December 2014 at 10 am at St John’s Anglican Church, corner Toorak and Clendon Roads, Toorak.
