Appointment - The Hon Justice Emerton

Justice Emerton has served as a Judge of the Court for just short of 9 years since 13 October 2009. Her Honour had been assigned to the Common Law Division of the Court; and had sat as an Acting Judge of Appeal and frequently sat in the Criminal jurisdiction of the Court.

Before appointment to the Court, Her Honour had served as Crown Counsel (Advisings) for nearly 2 ½ years, taking Silk in 2007. Her Honour had practised at the Victorian Bar for 13 ½ years and, before that, as a Solicitor with Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) for nearly 4 years, including a 2-year secondment to the Victorian Attorney-General’s Department Policy and Research Division.
