Deputy Chairperson – Enforcement, Australian Securities and Investments Commission
The Governor-General In Council, on 7 June 2018, appointed Daniel Crennan QC as a Deputy Chairperson of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), commencing 16 July 2018. The Minister for Revenue & Financial Services announced the appointment today.
Daniel was admitted to practice in 2002 and came to the Bar the same year. He took silk in 2016.
He served as a member of Bar Council in 2006-7, and from 2012-17, including as Honorary Treasurer in 2016-17.
Daniel was Chairman of the Audit & Finance Committee from 2011 to 2017.
He was a Director of Barristers’ Chambers Ltd for six years.
Daniel served on many Bar committees including the Applications Review Committee, Health & Wellbeing Committee, Library Committee, Pro Bono committee and a number of working groups. He represented the Bar on the Supreme Court - Commercial Court Users’ Group and Supreme Court - Corporations Users’ Group.
Daniel also served on the Executive of the Commercial Bar Association and was a Victorian Bar Nominated Director on the Law Council of Australia.
