22May2020

The Chief Judge of the County Court, the Honourable Peter Kidd, was “In Conversation” with Barrister and Bar Council Member Elizabeth Ruddle on Wednesday, in the fourth of VicBar’s series of webinars featuring the judiciary discussing the impact of COVID-19 on the courts with VicBar members. Questions moderated by Daniel Nguyen included:

  • How and when will the Court work through the backlog of cases?
  • Why are virtual jury trials unfeasible?
  • What is the impact of judge-alone trials?
  • What is the effect of COVID-19 on the concept of open justice?

You can hear a recording of the webinar, along with His Honour’s answers to these questions, here.

The “In Conversation” series is a new initiative by the Victorian Bar intended to inform members about current and topical issues, events and trends directly affecting them. This series will feature guest speakers from the legal profession who will share their experience and expertise.
