The Serious Offenders Act 2018 - How It All Works?

This new legislation makes important changes to Victoria’s post-sentence regime. Its operation commenced on the 3 September 2018 and it replaces the Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act 2009.

The changes include the introduction of serious violence offences, the introduction of an intensive treatment and supervision condition and the creation of emergency detention orders. This is an important seminar for all criminal practitioners and those who may wish to develop a practice in post-sentence detention hearings.
