Professional Behaviour at the Victorian Bar: Launch of the Revised Code of Conduct for Barristers

28Sep2021

The Victorian Bar Council is pleased to announce that it has adopted a revised Code of Conduct in relation to sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination and a revised Grievance Protocol.  The Code of Conduct sends a strong message that sexual harassment, bullying, and discrimination is unacceptable behaviour by barristers in connection with their practice. The Bar is committed to providing a straightforward, accessible procedure to address concerns, reports, and complaints through the revised Grievance Protocol.

At this launch event, a panel comprising members of Bar Council and the Ethics Committee will outline the changes to the Code and the Protocol, including the new Peer Support Barristers Program and reporting procedures, and discuss what the changes mean for members. Members will have the opportunity to ask questions about the new policies.
