Practice Development – Supporting and Championing junior barristers’ practice

The Practice Development has developed a program of CPDs designed to assist barristers of all seniority in developing and managing their practice.

Integral to many practices is the relationship between a silk or senior and junior.

The Panel will demonstrate techniques counsel can implement to improve this relationship and include:

1. Mentoring a junior’s business development, including how to bill, negotiate your fees and expand their practice.  

2. Leadership and management including debrief, communicating with juniors and crediting them for work.  

3. Junior’s role in a trial what is it and what does their role need to be? How to manage bringing them into a matter and creating efficiencies.  

This will be of interest to both seniors and juniors interested in harnessing the potential in this relationship.
