Mediating from a culturally diverse perspective

8Nov2022

THIS CPD HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The 2021 Census shows that almost half of Australians have a parent born overseas. There are now over 350 languages being spoken in Australia other than English, with Mandarin, Arabic and Punjabi the most prevalent. Being aware of and sensitive to the cultural norms and expectations that accompany such diversity has never been more crucial to Australian mediation practice.

The panel will discuss their own experiences in assisting parties from different cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds to resolve their differences, and in so doing will be speaking to issues that should be on every mediator’s and legal representative’s radar.
