International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) Seminar: LGBTIQ Awareness for Barristers

17May2023

The LGBTIQ Working Group of the Victorian Bar’s Equality & Diversity Committee is proud to present a CPD session on LGBTIQ matters of interest to barristers. The session will be held on Wednesday 17 May 2023, which is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT Day).

The goal of this CPD session is to provide an introduction to the LGBTIQ fundamentals relevant to a barrister’s practice. Attendees will leave equipped with improved knowledge of how to be an effective ally to members of LGBTIQ communities, including other barristers, solicitors, clients, litigants and staff.

No prior knowledge is required to attend and participate. The LGBTIQ Working Group particularly welcomes barristers who have not previously attended a session hosted by the Working Group. The session will be presented by an expert presenter from Pride in Diversity, which regularly provides diversity and inclusion training across all sectors of the Australian workforce, including major law firms.

Questions can be submitted to an expert presenter on the day, or in advance to the Chair of the session by email (james.gray@vicbar.com.au).
