Gendered violence and practice as a barrister

Starts With Us is a Women’s Legal Service Victoria project for the legal and justice workforce in Victoria. The project is focused on the primary prevention of violence against women in Victoria by responding to the gendered drivers of violence.

It is proposed that the CPD will cover:

•  an introduction to the concept of gendered violence;

•  how gendered violence is relevant to the practice of barristers (including the emerging regulatory landscape

   in Victoria); and 

•  a discussion of approaches to eliminating gendered violence in the legal profession. 

The session aims to educate barristers on the topic of gendered violence and to ensure barristers are better equipped to deal with and eliminate instances of gendered violence as it affects practice.
