Defibrillator Training Session: Busting the myths about sudden cardiac arrest and why bystanders can safely use defibrillators

21Aug2017

Did you know that there are defibrillators (AED) in most chambers? If a defibrillator is applied by bystanders before the arrival of paramedics, it can save the life of a person in cardiac arrest and dramatically improve their long-term health outcomes.

Anyone regardless of whether they have first aid training can apply an AED if they confidence and knowledge to act.  Minutes matter to save a life and early defibrillation increases the survival rate to over 80%.  Without early defibrillation, survival is less than 5%.

This seminar will be conducted by registered nurse and 'Save a Life' coach Anne Holland, author of "Back in a Heart Beat".  Anne will demonstrate how a defibrillator works and inform us about why, when & how to use an AED to assist a person who is unresponsive and not breathing.
