Defamation After Defteros

In August the High Court delivered its judgment in Google LLC v Defteros [2022] HCA 27. The question was the liability of Google for its hyperlinks to third party defamatory material. That decision, together with defamation reforms enacted in 2021 and proposed reforms for 2022, have made an enormous impact on the law of defamation.

Counsel from the Defteros decision will speak and there will be further discussion about the recent and proposed defamation reforms. It is likely to be well attended by solicitors, in-house Counsel and Counsel who work in the area. Drinks at the Essoign Club will follow.
