Dealing with clients in suicidal distress

The prospect of going to court is inherently stressful, and barristers are accustomed to dealing with clients experiencing varying degrees of stress. Sometimes a client may experience more than stress and may show signs of suicidal distress.

In this seminar, Jorgen Gullestrup will explain the drivers for suicide and how to identify and respond to suicidal distress. Lisa Hannon KC, Chair of the Victorian Bar's Ethics Committee, will outline a barristers’ ethical duties when they apprehend that a client may be suicidal.
