Changes to the Mediator Standards Board (MSB): Accreditation from NMAS to AMDRAS

25Oct2023

Following a comprehensive in-depth review conducted over three years there have been a number of recommendations to change the way in which nationally accredited (NMAS) mediators are regulated including adding a tiered system to the accreditation and additional requirements which aim to respond to the state of the profession.

The Victorian Bar as a Registered Mediation Accreditation Body is responsible for both making submissions to the MSB responding to these proposed changes and also for regulating the requirements when they are introduced. The proposed changes draw from extensive research and will involve stakeholder consultation prior to finalisation. These changes were canvassed at the recent National Mediation Conference by MSB Chair Chris Boyle. This seminar will form part of the consultation process and discuss the proposed changes and how they will affect accreditation and reaccreditation.
