Simon came to the Bar from Mallesons in 1986.
Areas of Practice
He has an extensive practice in commercial litigation including litigation involving major infrastructure projects. His most prominent work areas are in contract and corporations law, major torts, equity and insolvency. He has appeared in major competition cases (including infrastructure access cases) and in a number of Royal Commissions and public inquiries, including as counsel assisting.
Court Work
He appears in all State and Federal Courts.
Advice
He has a large commercial advice practice in major commercial disputes including for significant public companies and for government.
Mediation
He regularly mediates disputes in commercial matters.
Committees
He was the Senior Vice-President of the Bar, a member of the Bar Council, a member of Bar Council Executive and a member of the Indictable Crimes Certificate Committee (ICCC). Over the last four years, he has been a member of many of the Bar’s standing committees including the Counsel Committee, the Education and Professional Development Executive (EPD Executive) and the Readers Course Committee. He is the immediate past Chair of the EPD Executive and the Readers Course Committee, having stepped down from those roles in March 2020.
