The Energy section’s objective is to provide a platform to promote members’ expertise in contentious energy matters, and a forum for members to exchange insights and experiences, with a particular emphasis on drawing out underlying industry and regulatory trends and issues.
A key objective is to align with CommBar’s recent success in promoting members’ expertise externally beyond the Bar, to solicitors and corporate and other clients.
As a starting point, the field of contentious energy matters is intended to cover the whole energy supply chain, from exploration and extraction, renewable energy sources, upstream supply, generation, transmission, distribution and retail.
The contentious energy field will overlap with varied technical legal areas, such as contract and tort, competition law and consumer protection, planning and property law, administrative law and commercial arbitration. The section will seek to co-operate with other sections of CommBar in these areas of overlap, where appropriate.
