Matt practices principally in criminal law in Victoria. He is experienced in drug related proceedings, property, fraud, firearms, and organised crime prosecutions.
Contested hearings: Matt is regularly briefed in contested hearings in the summary and indictable jurisdictions involving drugs, violence, dishonesty, organised crime, family violence, and white-collar criminal matters.
Administrative law: Matt provides advice upon request in relation to administrative law questions of a criminal and quasi-criminal nature.
Disclosure: Matt is particularly interested in disclosure. He is experienced in seeking and enforcing disclosure in criminal matters in Victoria. He regularly advises on disclosure requests at the initial stages of proceedings and is happy to provide guidance when preparing disclosure requests.
Cybercrime, AI, crypto, digital surveillance and electronic evidence: Matt is presently involved in defending people charged with offences detected from the use of the ANOM platform by the Australian Federal Police. Matt is passionate about technological advancement and its implications for criminal law. He welcomes inquiries about the use of new technology by enforcement agencies against clients and can provide advice regarding case strategy upon request.
