Nick practises predominantly in commercial law, wills and estates, common law (including professional negligence and historical sex abuse) and confiscations. He also accepts briefs in criminal matters. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Children’s Court.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Nick was Senior Associate to the Hon. Justice Judd at the Supreme Court of Victoria, assisting in a variety of commercial matters, including high-volume debt recovery, contractual disputes and consumer law. He was also associate to the Hon. Justice Coghlan in the Court of Appeal and to the Hon. Justice Incerti in the common law trial division.
Nick is also a practising artist, represented by COMA gallery in Sydney. He has exhibited locally and internationally, including at the Institute of Contemporary Art (Singapore); the Monash University Museum of Art; La Trobe Art Institute; Melbourne Art Fair; Sydney Contemporary; Spring 1883 and The Armory Show (New York) with Yavuz Gallery (forthcoming). His work has featured on ABC TV; Art & Australia; the Age; the Australian; un Magazine; Running Dog; RUSSH and the Design Files. His work can be found on his artist website.
Nick previously worked as a philanthropy consultant at Philanthropy Squared, advising not-for-profit boards and executive management about major gifts fundraising. He is the Chair of an arts organisation, Play On, and publishes in the area of arts law, including co-authoring a chapter in the Research Handbook on Art and Law (Edward-Elgar, 2020). Nick has also been a sessional lecturer at Victoria University, teaching the Law of Financial Institutions and Securities.
While at the University of Melbourne, Nick was a New Colombo Plan Scholar, studying for one semester in Singapore where he worked at Samuel Seow Law Corporation. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Victorian College of the Arts.
