Anna practices in civil, commercial and administrative law litigation in the Federal and State courts. Anna is also regularly briefed for government and regulatory bodies and in a range of disciplinary proceedings. Anna has particular experience in complex representative proceedings or “class actions”.
Anna has represented the Victorian Bar on the Federal Court Class Actions user group.
Anna recently acted as junior counsel (with Richard Niall QC, Solicitor-General for Victoria, Melinda Richards SC, Crown Counsel for Victoria and Richard Attiwill QC) for the Minister for Families and Children, Minister for Corrections, the State of Victoria and the Secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services in various Supreme Court proceedings in relation to the transfer and detention of youth at Barwon Prison following the riots at Parkville Youth Justice Centre in November 2016 (Minister for Families and Children v Certain Children by their Litigation Guardian Sister Marie Brigid Arthur).
Anna was previously briefed as junior counsel for several years in a number of large class actions, including for the State Parties and the CFA in the Kilmore (Matthews v SPI Electricity Pty Ltd (2010 - 2014)) and and Murrindindi (Liesfield v SPI Electricity Pty Ltd (2013 – current)) bushfire class actions following the Black Saturday bushfires.
Anna’s commercial practice has included acting in insolvency and finance-related matters including acting for liquidators, trustees in bankruptcy, company directors, insurers, banks and for companies and individuals facing investigation and enforcement action initiated by ASIC. Anna has been involved in a range of Corporations Act matters including oppression actions, statutory demand cases, winding up applications, applications for security for costs, insolvent trading actions and preference actions. Anna has also been briefed in a range of insurance and general commercial matters including product liability claims, partnership disputes, contractual disputes, competition, trust and property related matters.

Prior to becoming a barrister, Anna spent two years working in the commercial litigation department of Norton Rose, London where she worked on the US$2 billion Thyssen-Bornemisza trust litigation in the Supreme Court in Bermuda.
