Angus has specialised in common law and personal injury matters since he was admitted to the Victorian Bar in 2000.
He practices extensively in the following areas:
Since 2010, Angus has been briefed to appear on behalf of plaintiffs in the Geelong Circuit in the Supreme Court and County Court. Since 2015, he has been briefed as Lead Counsel in Geelong Circuit matters. He is also briefed regularly as Lead Counsel in the Supreme Court and the County Court in Melbourne.
In 2015/16 Angus was briefed to assess the damages of members of the Kilmore East-Kinglake Bushfire Class Action.
In addition to a busy trial and advice practice, Angus is regularly briefed to appear in mediations, judicial mediations and settlement conferences. He also has experience appearing in the Court of Appeal.
Angus is proficient in running his practice electronically and he has experience as Lead Counsel in Zoom hearings.
Angus read with Judge John Jordan and he has had four readers: Sarah Lean, Rebecca Dal Pra, Stephen Scully, and Sonari Fernando.
Before joining the Bar, Angus gained broad experience in common law, criminal law, family law and general litigation. He completed his Articles with Molomby and Molomby (Middletons) before joining Tyler Tipping & Woods in 1994. From 1996 to 1997 Angus worked for Simmons & Simmons in Hong Kong. From 1998 to 2000, he was employed by the Office of Public Prosecutions where he gained extensive experience in indictable criminal matters.
Angus is a member of the common law bar association, the criminal bar association and Australian Lawyers Alliance.
He is a passionate cyclist, traveller, chef and Collingwood supporter. He is also an enthusiastic Italofile. He is married with three boys, who are also passionate about the Pies.
