Ecumenical Service at 8:30 am followed by a ceremonial sitting of the Supreme Court at the Geelong Law Courts.

Sunday 29 January 2017 in Melbourne
Festive Choral Evensong 6 pm at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, preceded by a Champagne Afternoon Tea in the Barbara Darling Room at 4:30pm.  

Monday 30 January 2017 in Melbourne
Multi-Faith - Government House at 10 am with morning tea to follow hosted by The Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria.

Red Mass - St Patrick’s Cathedral at 9 am followed by morning tea with His Grace Archbishop Hart.

International Commission of Jurists Community Opening - Waldron Hall in the County Court of Victoria at 9 am for 9:30am start with morning tea at 10:30 am.

Eastern Orthodox Service - St Eustathios Greek Orthodox Church at 9 am.

Synagogue Service - The East Melbourne Synagogue (The East Melbourne Hebrew Congreation) at 9am - procession assembles at 8:45am; followed by morning tea with Their Graces Bishop Ezekiel and Bishop lakovos.

Ceremonial Sittings for New Silks 2016

Ceremonial Sittings to receive the announcements of the appointment of Senior Counsel in and for the state of Victoria will be held on Friday 2 December 2016.

  • Supreme Court of Victoria - 9.15am. A Full Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria will sit in the Banco Court, 210 William Street, Melbourne at 9.15am. The ceremonial sitting will be followed by morning tea in the Supreme Court Library.
  • Federal Court of Australia - 10.30am. A Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia will sit in Court 1, Level 8 of the Owen Dixon Commonwealth Law Courts Building, 305 William Street, Melbourne at 10.30am.
  • Family Court of Australia - 10.45am. A Full Court of the Family Court of Australia will sit in Court 4A, Level 4 of the Owen Dixon Commonwealth Law Courts Building, 305 William Street, Melbourne at 10.45am
All counsel who are able to do so are encouraged to attend, robed (without wigs), in honour of the new Silks. Click here for full details.
