Bar Roll No: 4684

It is with deep regret that we inform members of the passing of James Westmore, who died yesterday morning of injuries sustained in a traffic accident on 8 February 2020. James was 34 years of age.

James was admitted to practise law in 2011 and worked at Galbally & O’Bryan Lawyers, where he developed his advocacy skills as a solicitor-advocate in a wide range of proceedings.

James was called to the Bar in 2014, where he read with His Honour Judge Trevor Wraight. His senior mentor was Neil Clelland QC.

James is remembered as a fine advocate, always extremely well prepared and considered. In his short time at the Bar, James enjoyed a reputation as an outstanding criminal lawyer—someone to watch.

James will be deeply missed by many colleagues and friends in the profession, especially at the Bar, and amongst his former and current clients.

He combined many talents and fine attributes, not least being his dedication, hard work and discipline.
James loved the Bar, in particular for its role in the criminal trial system and the defence of the fundamental rights of accused persons.

Passionate in his pursuit of many and varied interests, James will be sorely missed as a friend above all things.
