Obituary - Richard Forsyth

5Apr2019

Bar Roll no: 1157

It is with deep regret that the Bar Council informs members of the death earlier this week of Richard Forsyth.  Richard was 78 years old.

Richard was born on 30 January 1941.

He was admitted to practice in 1967 and was a partner in Godfrey Stewart & Co of Bourke Street Melbourne.

He came to the Bar in 1975 and read with Judge John Hanlon.

Richard mentored two readers—his daughters Jane Forsyth (then Jane Newton-Brown), and Annabel Glover (née Forsyth).

At the Bar, Richard practised in personal injuries, workers’ compensation, insurance law and the matters in the jurisdiction of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Richard’s life is to be celebrated at a private funeral and memorial.

Deepest sympathies are extended to Richard’s family, including Jane and Annabel, both respected members of the Victorian Bar.
