Richard Cook passed away on Thursday 19th December 2019 at the age of 70 years.

Funeral service: 2:00pm on Friday 27th December at All Saints Anglican Church, Chapel Street, East St Kilda, followed by a wake.

He was born on the 17th September 1949.

Richard was articled at Russell Kennedy & Cook, Radcliffe & Co. (London) and admitted to practice on the 1st April 1974.

He signed the Bar Roll on the 10th March 1977 and read with Douglas Graham QC and Alan Archibald QC.

Richard practised in general commercial law and authored the Jacobs County Court Practice (6th Edition), the Annotated Rules of Court 1996-2019, and many journal articles on areas including Administration and Probate law.

Richard was mentor to Paul Bravender-Coyle, Mark Purvis and Michele Nancarrow.

Richard was an active practitioner for 42 years, was well known as a fighter and took on all briefs with a strong belief in the Cab Rank Rule.

Richard is survived by his wife Juliet and his five children, Jeremy, William, Elizabeth, Alice and Annabel.
