Obituary & Funeral Notice - Patricia O'Hara

10Oct2019

Bar Roll No: 1214

Retired Victorian Bar member Patricia (Patsy) O’Hara passed away on Thursday 3 October, at the age of 88 years.

Funeral details: 23 October 2019 at 2pm, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 631 High St, Prahran

Patricia was admitted to practise in 1963 and worked as a solicitor with Ridgeway Pearce & Co, where she primarily practised in family law. During this time she regularly briefed Mary (Molly) Kingston, a former partner of her firm, who was one of the Bar’s pioneer women barristers. This may have inspired Patricia’s later career choice.

Patricia came to the Bar in 1976 as a mature practitioner and read with the Honourable Michael Black AC QC. She established a thriving practice at Four Courts Chambers.

Patricia is remembered by her colleagues as a diminutive woman with a lilting Irish accent and a wonderful temperament; she rarely raised her voice but was not to be trifled with. She was a strong supporter of women.

Patricia retired from the Bar in 1994.
