Appointments & Welcomes - Frances Margaret Medina & Rodney Andrew Higgins

The Governor in Council, on Tuesday 19 September 2017, appointed Frances Margaret Medina and Rodney Andrew Higgins as Magistrates.

Ms Medina had been in practice on her own account as the Principal Solicitor at Medina Legal in Lime Avenue, Mildura since December 2012. She served Articles with David Laidlaw at Maddock Lonie & Chisolm and was admitted to practice in March 1992. Before establishing her own practice, she worked at a number of Law Firms, mostly in country Victoria.

Mr Higgins had been in practice on his own account as Rod Higgins Lawyer in Jordan Place, Shepparton since February 2008. He served Articles with J N Zigouras & Co in Melbourne and was admitted to practice in March 2000. He remained with that firm briefly; then, in May 2000, went to Faram Ritchie Davies Lawyers in Shepparton before beginning his own practice.

Their Honours were sworn in by Chief Justice Warren privately on Thursday 21 September. They are assigned initially to the Magistrates’ Court at Melbourne.

The profession will extend a Welcome to Their Honours in Court 1 of the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, Ground Floor, 233 William Street Melbourne on:

Thursday 5 October 2017 at 9.15 am

All counsel who are able to do so are asked to attend.  Counsel are not required to robe.
