Appointment - Liam Tamas Brown

Crown Counsel for the State of Victoria

The Governor in Council has today appointed Liam Tamas Brown as Crown Counsel for the State of Victoria from this day to 30 November 2019.

Liam Brown graduated Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) from the University of Melbourne in 1997 and worked as a physiotherapist. He graduated LL B (Hons) from Latrobe University in 2003, winning the Supreme Court Prize, the Supreme Court Exhibition and the D.M. Myers University Medal. He later completed an LL M at the University of Melbourne.

He served Articles with Rowan Kennedy at Mallesons Stephen Jaques and was admitted to practice in April 2005. He remained with Mallesons as a Solicitor for nearly 2 years; then served as Senior Associate to Justice Hargrave of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

From 2008-10, he was a Principal Legal Adviser in the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet.

He came to the Bar in the September 2010 Readers course, read with Peter Gray (now QC) and signed the Bar Roll in November 2010. He had a broad commercial and public law practice.

From 2012-14, he was a Fellow at the Melbourne Law School, teaching Principles of Public Law.
